Motivation behind PCT’s establishment
The thing that prompted me to think about establishing a Trust is the idea of Pay Forward. I came from a poor family and was in a desperate need for help to pursue my education. My father was a tailor. My parents were neither highly educated nor had financial resources to support my educational expenses. Though I was doing very well in my studies, I was never sure that I could continue for higher studies. I spent many sleepless nights just thinking about my education. My state ranks in 10th & 12th classes and my top scoring in EAMCET did not mean anything.
I was fortunate enough to get the timely help from NSF INDIA (North South Foundation – www.northsouth.org). NSF really changed my life and actually encouraged me to think positively by helping financially through all four years of my B. Tech program. After B.Tech, I cleared GATE (all India entrance examination) and finished my M.Tech from IIT, Kharagpur. I was recruited by TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) and started my software career in March 1996. With the same inspiration from NSF, I founded Padala Charitable Trust in 2002 to find and help students like myself, poor and meritorious. Many of our scholars have become sponsors by paying forward to other needy students. We hope to keep this amazing cycle of PAY FORWARD forever.
I had a privilege to address a great number of parents and children at the NSF ANNUAL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS 2006 & at some Regional Contests in 2007, 2008 & 2009. My talk included the role that NSF played in my life and how it helped me develop a ‘Giving Attitude’ in myself and thus started to “PAY IT FORWARD”
